2018 DGA Awards Winners: Guillermo del Toro and Jordan Peele Are Honored

The Shape of Water - Guillermo del Toro - 2018 DGA Awards Winners

Last night the Directors Guild of America handed out their awards honoring the best achievements in directing from the previous year. This includes directing for feature films as well as dramatic and comedic television. So who came away with the big prizes?

On the feature film side of things, Guillermo del Toro took the top prize for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film for his work on the Best Picture nominated The Shape of Water, putting him on the level with his “Three Amigos” compadres Alfonso Cuaron and Alejandro González Iñárritu. But Get Out director Jordan Peele didn’t go home empty-handed since he won Outstanding Directorial Achievement of a First-Time Feature Film Director. As for the rest of the 2018 DGA Awards winners, you’ll have to check out the full list below.

As you can see, in the TV awards, despite having three nominations in the Dramatic Series category, none of the Game of Thrones nominees walked away with the trophy. Instead, Reed Morano took it home for The Handmaid’s Tale. The win for Bethany McCarthy-Miller for Veep seems like a surprise, especially against Golden Globe favorite The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
