‘Avengers: Infinity War’ LEGO Sets May Reveal Some Potential Spoilers

Avengers Infinity War LEGO Sets

As we get closer to the release of Avengers: Infinity War in May, more and more details about the Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel will come to light. Thanks to the extensive merchandise coming to shelves in the months leading up to the release of the film, these kind of revelations are unavoidable, but we’ll do our best to keep any major spoilers hidden for those who don’t want to be spoiled.

The official Avengers Infinity War LEGO sets have been revealed, and many of them highlight key actions sequels from the Marvel sequel. In fact, a few of them may spoil a few surprises in store for the movie. So if you don’t want to possibly ruin some key moments in Avengers: Infinity War, you may not want to read any further. You’ve been warned!

Sanctum Sanctorum Showdown

We saw a glimpse of this sequence in the first Infinity War trailer, albeit without the presence of Cull Obsidian and Ebony Maw, members of Thanos’ Black Order. But we’ve seen Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Bruce Banner and Wong in the street in front the Sanctum Santorum with a bunch of debris around them, presumably around the same time that Peter Parker sees that giant portal in the sky.

If this LEGO set is accurate, there may be a big battle between these Avengers and a couple of Thanos’ adoptive children in front of Doctor Strange’s stronghold. The question is whether or not Spider-Man makes it over there, especially in his Iron Spider suit. After all, we’ve seen him in his normal Spidey suit in a couple shots from the Super Bowl spot for Infinity War, so maybe he’s only included in this set because he didn’t fit in any of the other ones.

Furthermore, will the Iron Spider outfit have those extra golden limbs reaching out from the suit as they did when the Tony Stark-created suit debuted in the comics?

Thor’s Weapon Quest

Since Mjolnir was destroyed in Thor: Ragnarok, the god of thunder is going to need a new weapon. It appears the quest that Thor goes on with the Guardians of the Galaxy (or at least Rocket and Groot) is to forge a new weapon. In this case, it looks like it might be the axe Jarnbjorn that Thor wielded for a time in the Marvel comics after he was deemed unworthy to wield Mjolnir. And shots from the Infinity War trailer only support that theory.

In the trailer, we see Thor exerting all his strength as bright light shines on him. We know that Mjjolnir was forged in the heart of a dying star, but the Marvel Comics origin of the weapon gives us more detail. Mjolnir was created by three of the best dwarf smiths, and they harnessed the power of the sun’s rays in the creation of the weapon. It would stand to reason that Jarnbjorn would need to be created in a similar fashion, and that appears to be what Thor is doing here.

Something else to note is there have been rumblings that the handle of Thor’s new weapon might be created by using a piece of Groot’s arm. Perhaps that’s why the minifigure of the tree creature is stretched out with a longer branch. Groot is always willing to lend a hand to help his friends.

Outrider Drop Ship Attack

This is the smallest of the Avengers: Infinity War LEGO sets revealed, but it features what might be a key moment in the movie. As you can see, Captain America and Black Widow are charging at some of the alien enemies we see swarming in the final moments of the Infinity War trailer. Those multi-limbed black aliens are called Outriders, and it looks like they have some ships that bring them down to the surface of Earth.

The battle between the Outriders and the Avengers happens in Wakanda, which makes us think that one of the remaining Infinity Stones that we haven’t seen in any of the other Marvel movies yet must be in safekeeping in Black Panther’s home. After all, Captain America and one of the Outriders are both running towards one of the stones, but that might not actually happen in the movie. We’ll explain why a bit later in this post.

The Hulkbuster Smash-Up

Fans were excited to see the return of the Hulkbuster armor that debuted in Avengers: Age of Ultron, and it looks like the armor gets a bit of an upgrade here. Furthermore, it looks like the armor isn’t being controlled by Tony Stark this time. As you can see, this Hulkbuster LEGO set comes with Bruce Banner, and on the back of the box, he’s the one leaping out from the chest of the giant armor suit. That seems to imply that Banner will be inside Hulkbuster this time instead of being on the receiving end of its punches.

If you go back and look at the Infinity War trailer, you’ll notice a shot where Banner is standing next to the arm of the Hulkbuster armor, so it’s pretty likely that he’ll be inside that armor. We might finally get to see the rumored scene that was cut from Avengers: Age of Ultron where Banner would have hulked out from inside of the Hulkbuster suit to surprise Ultron. At the very least, we know he gets big, green and mean later in the battle because he’s charging at the Outriders with the rest of the Avengers in one of the coolest moments from the Infinity War trailer.

Corvus Glaive Thresher Attack

It looks like Wakanda will really have its hands full with the arrival of all these aliens. And this LEGO set further supports the theory that Wakanda is currently holding on to one of the Infinity Stones, which is why all these Outriders land in the African nation. Corvus Glaive (one of the members of Thanos’ Black Order) is also there and it looks like he has some kind of giant weapon meant to cut through the walls that are presumably protecting whatever facility contains the Infinity Stone.

Black Panther and Shuri are obviously at this battle because this is their homeland, but Vision is there too. We’re not sure if Vision is actually in this battle though, because he’s not seen in the line-up of Avengers charging into battle in the trailer. Actually, neither is Scarlet Witch. Maybe they arrive late to the battle.

Thanos: Ultimate Battle

You’ll notice that with all the action happening at Wakanda, there’s no sign of Iron Man. So what’s he up to? Well, it appears he’s trying to take on Thanos himself, but he may not be alone. It looks like Star-Lord and Gamora are attempting to help him stop Thanos, possibly from getting his hands on another Infinity Stone. That would explain why Rocket and Groot are the only ones with Thor as he forges his new weapon, though we’re still wondering where Drax the Destroyer is.

We’re pretty sure this is towards the end of the movie, but we can’t be sure. However, it’s likely that Doctor Strange and Spider-Man are also in this sequence, because footage that was shown at Disney’s D23 and Comic-Con featured Strange and Star-Lord working together in a big action sequence on some kind of otherworldly desert setting. Plus, there was also a shot of Tony Stark tending to Peter Parker after he’s been injured in battle, and that was also on the same location. Could we be looking at the demise of one of these heroes?

What’s Up With All the Infinity Stones?

You might have noticed that almost every one of these LEGO sets comes with its own Infinity Stone (the one of Thor’s weapon quest is the only one that doesn’t). That doesn’t mean that each of those moments in the movie features that Infinity Stone, but LEGO just wanted to spread them out so that fans had to buy all the LEGO sets if they wanted to fill up the Infinity Gauntlet with all the stones. But one of the Wakanda sequences likely has an Infinity Stone, but not three different stones, as these LEGO sets would have you believe. And the Thanos battle sequence may also have another one, but that’s just speculation on our part.

There’s plenty more to learn about Infinity War in the coming months, but hopefully toys like this won’t spoil everything from the movie. Marvel has done a good job of holding back some of the bigger secrets in each of their movies, and that will surely be the case with a movie like Infinity War, especially when it comes to setting up what’s to come in Avengers 4.

Here’s the official synopsis for Avengers: Infinity War:

An unprecedented cinematic journey ten years in the making and spanning the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War brings to the screen the ultimate, deadliest showdown of all time. As the Avengers and their allies have continued to protect the world from threats too large for any one hero to handle, a new danger has emerged from the cosmic shadows: Thanos.
