‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ Super Bowl Trailer: Return to Isla Nublar

Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom Super Bowl Trailer

Take a break from the big game with some big dinosaurs. A brand new Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom Super Bowl trailer is here with all the over-the-top dino action you could possibly want.

Jurassic World came nowhere close to capturing the magic of Steven Spielberg’s original Jurassic Park, but the film’s T.rex-sized box office guaranteed a sequel. Which brings us to Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. The follow-up brings back stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, with filmmaker J. A. Bayona stepping in for Colin Trevorrow. The brand-new Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Super Bowl trailer gives us yet another look at this potentially fun monster movie.

This looks cool! That opening shot of the dino in a bedroom is good old fashioned nightmare fuel. And Pratt having his raptor buddy Blue go after said dino is a great touch as well. I’m one of those people that found Jurassic World to be entertaining. I didn’t love it, and I’ll never feel the need to revisit it endless times like I do with Spielberg’s Jurassic Park, but as a big, dumb monster movie, it was fun to watch. But there was room for improvement, and perhaps Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom will be the film that rectifies the issues that kept the previous film from being a truly great movie. The presence of director J.A. Bayona is a plus, and it was wise of the franchise to bring back the always-welcome Jeff Goldblum as Dr. Ian Malcolm – although I wouldn’t be surprised if Malcolm ends up only being in one scene.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom picks up four years after the previous film, and finds Pratt’s dino-whisperer Owen Grady and Howard’s former corporate exec Claire Dearing charting an expedition to save the dinosaurs left on the island from a volcano. I’ve seen some people complain that this plot is silly – why would they care about saving the dinosaurs? But I actually think this is a solid premise, and it ties into Claire’s character arc in the last film. In Jurassic World, Claire starts out as someone who thinks the dinosaurs at Jurassic World are merely products; by the end of the film, she’s (supposedly) learned that they’re living, feeling creatures. Having her character be the one who wants to go save the remaining dinosaurs ties in nicely with this. And honestly, if you want to argue that this plot is silly, but that the basic plot of cloning dinosaurs for a theme park is solid, well, maybe there’s a chance you’re just nitpicking.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom opens on June 22, 2018.

Four years after the destruction of the Jurassic World theme park, Owen Grady and Claire Dearing return to the island of Isla Nublar to save the remaining dinosaurs from a volcano that’s about to erupt. They soon encounter terrifying new breeds of gigantic dinos while uncovering a conspiracy that threatens the entire planet.
