New ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Photos: Want to See Thanos Pull a Moon Down to Crush the Avengers?
This week brings us a whole slew of updates about Avengers: Infinity War. The movie is still nearly two months away, but Entertainment Weekly has a huge double issue this week with a whole bunch of details on what promises to be the biggest blockbuster of the summer. That includes a batch of new photos, including one shot that has only been seen by those lucky enough to attend the D23 Expo and San Diego Comic-Con.
Check out the new Avengers Infinity War photos below.
First up, here are all the different Entertainment Weekly covers for Avengers: Infinity War (buy them all here):
Now let’s get on with the rest of the Avengers Infinity War photos revealed in this huge new Entertainment Weeky.
Do You Want the Moon?
Just like ole George Bailey in a scene from It’s a Wonderful Life, Thanos (Josh Brolin) is going to give the Avengers the moon. Except he doesn’t need a lasso to do it. Instead, all he needs is the Infinity Gauntlet and at least some of the Infinity Stones (we can’t see how many he has here). This shot (via Entertainment Weekly) is from the footage that was shown to audiences at both the D23 Expo and San Diego Comic-Con, but it hasn’t been seen since them. It was a huge moment that blew audiences away, and it shows just how deadly Thanos is going to be in this movie.
However, we’re wondering exactly how real this scene is in the movie. Pulling a moon out of the sky feels like quite the impressive feat, and if Thanos can do that, he shouldn’t have any problem destroying Earth. But perhaps this has something to do with the final Infinity Stone. A theory has been floating around that this orange-hued location where we’ve seen the most deadly action and worrisome scenes unfold (including Peter Parker being seemingly injured and Iron Man getting slugged) that this might be the Soul World, tied to the Soul Stone. You can read more about that here.
Then again, EW notes that this setting is none other than Titan, the destroyed homeworld of Thanos. So that Soul Stone theory might be hung out to dry unless it’s all a ruse and Thanos is using the Soul Stone to trick Iron Man and the rest of those doing battle with him that they’re on his planet.
Shuri, You Can’t Be Serious?
This isn’t the most exciting image from Avengers: Infinity War, but since we’re all still riding the wave of excitement that is Black Panther, we can’t help but love seeing a new shot of Letitia Wright as T’Challa’s sister Shuri. We’ve been hoping that there would be a scene where she meets Tony Stark so they can have a match of wits and science wizardry. We’re not sure if that’s going to happen, but at the very least, here we see that she’ll meet the other science bro.
Joining Letitia Wright in this photo are the backs of Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner and Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch. Presumably this is happening in Wakanda, since we know at least Hulk ends up there later for a huge battle along with a bunch of the other Avengers. Hopefully Banner gets to nerd out a bit about Shuri’s technological developments while he’s down there.
Spidey Isn’t Quite Skipping School (Yet)
We’ve seen a few shots in the Avengers: Infinity War trailer and TV spots where Peter Parker (Tom Holland) spots the appearance of a strange object in the sky. It appears to be a massive portal, but EW refers to it as a Q-Ship. We know that Parker ends up making it onto the ship and launches into space, but before that, he has to somehow sneak out of the school bus while on a field trip. How’s he going to do this without his fellow students seeing him throw on the suit and crawl outside the bus?
Are the Avengers Grocery Shopping?
Upon first glance, it looks like Captain America (Chris Evans), War Machine (Don Cheadle, still wearing his Stark tech leg braces) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) maybe stopped by a Krispy Kreme or the dairy aisle of a grocery store. But it looks like that’s just a lab. The question is where is that lab? Is this in the Avengers headquarters in upstate New York? Could this be in Wakanda? We know all of these Avengers end up in the battle down in Wakanda thanks to that awesome final shot from the first trailer, so maybe this is a scene before that action sequence. Or maybe they really are in the dairy aisle and milk will be the secret weapon in defeating Thanos’ army, like in Ernest Scared Stupid.

There are a few more photos you can check out over at Entertainment Weekly, but they’re mostly different perspectives of shots we’ve already seen in the trailers. There will be plenty more revelations coming from their special Avengers: Infinity War issue. In the meantime, did you hear that the movie may run 2 hours and 36 minutes? That’s the word on the street. We’ll find out when it hits theaters on April 27, 2018.
