Late director Shoban’s son Santosh Shoban debuting as hero in Tollywood with movie Paperboy has garnered much needed attention much before it’s release as the bigwigs of Industry like Rebel Star Prabhas and superstar Mahesh Babu have been endorsing the product. Also, the film is being distributed by Allu Aravindh’s Geetha Arts all over the Telugu states added curiosity among movie lovers. Let us see whether the movie keeps up to the expectations or not.
Story:-
Ravi (Santhosh Shobhan) is a paper boy, falls for a girl, Dharani (Riya Suman). Thinking that she is a rich girl does not match her status thus Ravi feels reluctant to taking the relationship forward.But however Dharani likes him a lot .Amidst like any other story Dharani’s father Jayaprakash Reddy of course would not like to agree for the relationship.How the discrimination between both Rich and poor portrays on the screen and how eventually unite both of them forms rest of the story plot.
Characterizations:-
Being a debutant Santosh Sobhan is quite natural as paperboy Ravi , Priyashri as Gadwal Reddy’s daughter Dharani is decent limited to her role. Director JayaShankar showcased little strength but fails to execute in some parts here and there.Jayaprakash Reddy as usual showed his mark as antagonist.
Unnecessary addition of Bitthiri Satthi character just to please masses feels overdoing and sometimes it feels irritating too, Heroine brothers’ casting, unrealistic script for second half , poor climax .. etc negatives make this movie quite a regular one.
Though the director and the hero are the debutants attempted a decent one. Second half fails to showcase it’s naturality.
Analysis:-
Paperboy is a Rich Girl , Poor boy love story with a refreshing treatment here and there. Until First half there are impressive elements, but Interval onwards too cinematic writing makes stereotypical melo drama .
One of the positives is there are many dialogues throughout the film which are impressive. Songs,lyrics and cinematography are appreciable in first half.
Plus:-
* Hero
* Dialogues
* Music
Minus:-
* Unrealistic Second Half
* Poor climax
Verdict:-
It’s yet another romantic melo drama, Good attempt by a new comer; one can give it a shot as the product is not a bad one.
