Jeedigunta Ramachandra Murthy no more

Vetern writer, litterateur Jeedigunta Ramachandra Murthy breathed his last on Tuesday. Eighty-year-old Ramachandra Murthy got tested positive for COVID-19 and succumbed to it. Ramachandra Murthy is the recipient of Jnanpith Award and is a widely respected writer. Popular Tollywood hero Varun Sandesh is Ramachandra Murthy’s grandson.

Jeedigunta Ramachandramurthy was born in 1920. He started his career with a job at Co-operative Bank in Warangal at the age of 19 years. Later he shifted to the Education Department. However his tryst with literature and arts began, when he joined All India Radio (AIR) station, Hyderabad. He has turned full time writer and radio artiste, since joining AIR in 1971. Jeedigunta wrote more than 300 stories, 40 plays, 8 novels during his career spanning for about five decades. He has been active till his last breath and taking part in literary programs. However Coronavirus infection caused health problems to the senior citizen recently. Though initially he was able to fight the deadly virus successfully, finally succumbed to it.
