Review: Anando Brahma – Half belly of laughter
Human is usually afraid of devils and now a new trend prevails vice-versa. Devils are getting afraid of human. This is the different concept of which Anando Brahma has hit the screens this Friday under the direction of Mahi V Raghav with a star cast of Tapsee, Srinivas Reddy, Shakalaka Shankar, Vennela Kishore, Tagubothu Ramesh and others. let us see how this concept has clicked.
Story:
NRI Ramu (Rajeev Kanakala) loses his parents in a very unfortunate incident and he decides to sell off his house at Hyderabad. It is widely talked about that the house is occupied by some evil spirit. Everyone gets afraid to reach the house. Ramu thinks of letting the house for rent and prove that there are no devils. He gets into a deal with Siddhu (Srinivas Reddy) and plans to prove that this house is spirit-free. They form a larger team with Flute Raju (Vennela Kishore), Babu (Shakalaka Shankar), Tulasi (Tagubothu Ramesh) and enter the house. Ramu offers 10 lakhs each to Siddhu, Raju, Babu, and Tulasi for living in the house. What happens next? Who are the actual devils in the house? How do NRI Ramu’s parents die? How is Tapsee involved? For these answers, we need to watch the film on the screen.
Positives:
Sensible comedy lines
Interesting second half
Trimmed duration
Negatives:
Dragging the first hour
Cast and performance:
“Pathasala” movie fame director Mahi V Raghav has selected a different concept for Anando Brahma which has clicked. He was successful in blending the concept with comedy. But to feel the punch of this comedy, the audience need to wait patiently until the second half. Once we enter the second half, you will fully be engaged in comedy. This comedy has been retained till climax. After the release of twists in the story, it reaches climax with a normal note.
Heroine Tapsee has been the prime face in all promotions of Anando Brahma. She also admitted that only after liking the story she signed for this film. But her role in this film is not so befitting. But Tapsee trying to involve herself even in the role suitably. A heroine of her standard was a bit lavish for this film.
Hero Srinivas Reddy and Vennela Kishore scenes are the highlight scenes and will leave you to burst in waves of laughter. Shakalaka Shanker also nailed in his comic role of fewer than 30 mins.
Technical:
Music is the backbone of any horror movie. In this case, background music played by Krishna Kumar made the audience glued to their seats. The cinematography is another area which suited the scene. Editing quality has also added flair to this movie. Duration of the movie being less at 2 hours and 20 mins, we will not feel bored. Even then, first half could be trimmed further. Production quality is good.
Analysis:
Out of loads of horror comedy already flooding the movie industry, Anando Brahma will certainly stand out as a specialty with a new storyline. This film’s comedy has grabbed the audience pulse. If you can bear some boring scenes with patients in the first half, you would certainly enjoy the second half and return home with a belly full of laughter and stretched smiles.
