Review: Jai Lava Kusa – Festive treat for Fans
Junior NTR’s first triple role film Jai Lava Kusa has come before the audience on 21 September as Dussehra gift. NTR’s attempt for three roles has gathered a huge amount of expectation in film circles. Not only fans but all movie lovers were eagerly waiting for this feast. Fans were desperately waiting to watch NTR as a stammering person. Could this film meet this expectation? Let us review Jai Lava Kusa
Story :
Jai, Lava, and Kusa are triplets and Jai has a stammering deformity by birth. As they grow older, due to this deformity, Jai is kept aloof by Lava and Kusa. They distant Jai and due to this Jai grows with rebellious traits. In a bizarre incident, all the three get separated. Kusa resorts to minor thefts and wishes to settle down in America. Lava lives happily after securing a bank job. Jai prefers to drama acting with his favorite role of Ravanasura. In real life also he acquires the qualities of Ravana. After a long span, all three meet again. What happens next? Does Jai change or continues the grudge on Luva and Kusa? In whose life does Simran (Nevada Thomas) enter? And for many more questions which would arise in your mind, it’s better to watch on the screen live.
Positives: Obviously NTR is best known for his acting skills and his performance in all the three roles is appreciable. Interval Bang with the entry of Jai is not to be missed. Interesting climax. DSP’s music is awesome. Chota K Naidu touched the right pulse with this camera.
Negative: Dragging second half and mixed up storyline could have been worked on more.
Cast & Performance :
– Jai character and NTR’s acting is top class and for sure no other actor in Tollywood could attempt such feat. NTR has shown his caliber in this role. He proved that NTR is not only for action but for sentiment, love tracks, dances and fights too. A single character of Jai has made this film alive.
Rasi Khanna & Nevada Thomas have perfectly managed to fir into the characters as per director Bobby’s expectations. As usual, Nevada has excelled in the second half a lover of Jai. Nevada was earlier hesitant to glamour roles but Bobby could extract the steamy quotient as well.
Rasi Khanna got an opportunity for the first time in a huge budget film and that too for a big star. She perfectly embedded the role of Priya, a marriage bureau owner. As a partner to Lavakumar, she captured hearts of the audience too.
Nanditha and Hamsanandini were also seen in some important roles. Priya Darsi’s comedy bits have passed on the time with happy laughter amidst some serious sequences.
Tamannah has sizzled with her bountiful exposure of her assets in an item song. The audience will have to manage to watch both her sweet curves and NTR’s moves which were quite competitive at one stage. Can't-miss out a different Tamannah this time. Full Paisa Vasool for her exhibition.
A special mention of Abhimanyu for his villain role. He worked very hard to balance the role of three heroes and his struggle has succeeded with a brilliant outcome.
Even though it’s a routine feature of Posani, his involvement is just OK.
Technical :
Firstly Devi Sri Prasad’s music is the crux of the movie. Every song has been designed so perfect and apt as per the situation. He is best known for background music. Specially Ravan song will certainly leave you hair rising and take you to a different world.
Chota K Naidu is already a talent-rich technician and he had proved earlier in many occasions. His portrayal of NTR in three different shades and in three different styles is simply the heights of his workmanship. Locations, sets, hero, heroines have been perfectly captured and synced well with Bobby’s vision. Without Chota K Naidu Jai Luva Kusa could have been a disaster.
Kona Venkat is also a seasoned technician and second half narration could have been trimmed to enhance the screenplay. But his track changing from Love, comedy and NTR’s dialogues is superb.
Editing work by a senior technician Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao has perfectly apt to the storyline.
Kalyan Ram has for the first time dared to spend lavishly for richness in each frame. The audience can very well feel it on the screen.
Director Bobby kept full focus on NTR fans taste and tried to get NTR ready for the fans. NTR has shouldered all the responsibility of the film. Despite the story being routine and similar to an old film “Mugguru Monagaallu” wherein three brothers separate and unite again. The only difference in this film is the absence of mother’s role. Bobby could have trimmed the second half.
Analysis :
Director Bobby has specially designed Jai Lava Kusa keeping in view Nandamuri fans. He believed in NTR’s performance and didn’t bother much with the story. The movie was always safe that out of three roles any one role would click. Exactly in the same ratio, Jai role has clicked and a new NTR was be seen. Fans would like all the three roles but the common audience would appreciate Jai character more. You can enjoy music and camera work. Overall – Jai Lava Kusa is a festive treat for Nandamuri Fans and one time watch for other movie lovers.
