Review: Nakshatram – Distant Star

Director Krishna Vamsi is best known for values, technicality, and creativity, There is always an air of heavy expectation for his movies. This time Vamsi too some gap and came up with “Nakshatram”. He chose Two couples Sundeep Kishan and Regina and Sai Dharam Tej-Pragna Jaiswal as guest roles. This thriller has been released today (Friday). Let's see how his magic went off…
Director himself is seen in one of the main characters. Young heroes Sundeep Kishan, Sai Dharam Tej and Tanish are badly hit with flops. Let's see whether Krishna Vamsi could quench their thirst of a hit.
Story :
Ramarao’s (Sundeep Kishan) Father, grandfather and great grandfathers have been working as police. Ramarao also aims to be Sub Inspector of Police. He works sincerely towards his target. He is just a step away to become SI. At this juncture, Commissioner Ramabrahmam’s son Rahul (Tanish) becomes an obstacle in between and does not allow him to fulfill his dream. Ramarao feels depressed and attempts to suicide. Later he gets counseled by a Police Officer that to do justice, police uniform is not mandatory. His girlfriend (Regina) gifts him a police uniform. He decides to wear the uniform and illegally perform duties of SI. He uses police uniform in the name of Alexander. Kiran Reddy (Pragna Jaiswal) detects Ramarao as fake police officer and hands over to police commissioner.
To know who is Alexander? Why Rahul and Ramarao fight with each other? Does Ramarao become an SI at last?..answers for these questions can be best seen on the large screen near your place.
Positives :
Second Half
Pragna Jaiswal
Climax
Negatives :
First Half
Routine Story
Cast :
Krishna Vamsi as a director always tries to get maximum output from actors. He had proved the same in Nakshatram. Sundeep Kishan, Sai Dharam Tej, Tanish, Pragna Jaiswal have responded to Vamsi very professionally. Out of these Pragna Jaiswal’s acting is remarkable. Despite this, selecting a routine story and using first half just for introducing the characters has let the film standard to a new low. If these two elements could have been planned well, Nakshatram could have remained as a magical star.
Sundeep Kishan has portrayed the middle-aged boy and his urge to become a police officer with ease. Regina as Sundeep girlfriend could just spread some charm on the screen. Sai Dharam Tej’s entry as Alexander is outstanding. But his entry scene lacked good editing skills. Earlier for Alexander character Bollywood hero Sanjay Dutt was planned. But later he thought that huge actor is not so mandatory for this role. As Alexander’s assistant Pragna Jaiswal has grabbed all the marks. She sizzled with beauty and acting. She grabbed the main hero role in the multi starrer flick. She even sizzled with her bikini song. Tanish though not successful as a hero, has done justice as a vilian. His body language has suited to that negative shade. So we may expect more negative roles from this lad.
Technical :
We just cant search any lapses in Krishna Vamsi’s technicality. He is a master in fixing camera angles. He used skillset of Cinematographer Srikanth Naroj to the maximum. Bheems also provided good music. The narration was a bit slow at times. First half could have been trimmed more. Otherwise, production values are sound.
Analysis :
Usually, Krishna Vamsi’s products are magical shows. But Nakshatram could not bring out that WOW element to the fore. Krishna Vamsi’s exclusive fans will anyhow like this movie.
